Helidox Corne Keyboard Kit

How can I make my keyboard Bluetooth?

To make your keyboard Bluetooth-enabled, opt for Nice!Nano controllers. Please note that batteries are not included; additional information is available on the Nice!Nano page.

Which controllers should I choose?

  • Pro-Micro | QMK: Ideal for beginners, offering great value for money. However, it may not work well with C-to-C cables.
  • Elite-C | QMK: A premium option with a sturdy USB-C mid-mount, extra pins, and an improved bootloader.
  • Elite-Pi | QMK | KMK | CircuitPython: This controller boasts ample space for various functionalities, featuring an RP2040 MCU with more memory for firmware features. It is relatively new to the market and comes with a drag-and-drop bootloader.
  • Nice!Nano | ZMK: This development board includes Bluetooth and an onboard battery charging circuit. It requires a 3.7v lithium rechargeable battery and is better suited for advanced users.

Can I use different controllers for each half of my build?

It's advisable to use a matching set of controllers to avoid compatibility issues.

How many switches do I need?

For the 3x6 column Corne, you'll need 42 switches, which are sold in packs of 10. So, you'd require 5 packs.

What keycaps can I use?

For MX builds, consider starting with our DSA split blank set. While most standard 60%+ MX keycap sets will "work," there might be some mismatched profiles and legends.

For Choc V1 builds, we recommend either MBK Glow (for RGB) or MBK Ergo (for non-RGB).

How do I flash my controllers?

Refer to your specific controller page for detailed instructions. Feel free to send us a support message if you encounter any difficulties.

Can I use the Nice!view?

Our PCBs currently do not support Nice!view as it requires an extra pin.

Should I socket my controllers and OLEDs?

If you're willing to bear the extra cost, we strongly recommend socketing your controller, especially when using the Nice!Nano. This ensures that, in the unlikely event of your PCB or controller malfunctioning, you can easily swap them out or reuse them in new kits.

For this, you'll need the following items:

  • 2x Machine Pin (Controller) Sockets
  • 2x OLED Hotswap Socket
  • 2x Mill-Max Socket Pins (or consider using through-hole diode legs as a cost-effective alternative)
Looking for a simple yet stylish version of the Corne? The Helidox light is the perfect choice if you're not looking for LEDs or hotswap sockets.

This kit offers a plethora of switch options, supporting MX, ALPS, Choc v1, and v2 switches in both 3 and 5-pin styles. Plus, it plays nice with both SMD and through-hole diodes.

The PCB even has a nifty breakaway section, so you can rock a 3x5 column layout. Just keep in mind that the included FR4 case won't work with this layout.
